Jonathan Lyons, founder and president of Lyons Literary LLC, is a publishing attorney and literary agent in New York. Prior to starting his own agency, Jonathan worked at Curtis Brown Ltd. as an agent and Foreign Rights Associate and at McIntosh & Otis as legal counsel, agent, and Director of Subsidiary Rights. Over the course of his career he has completed deals on behalf of numerous estates, including John Steinbeck, Upton Sinclair and W.H. Auden, and sold books on everything from vampires and the apocalypse to jetpacks and Jim Henson.

Jonathan's legal clients include authors, literary agencies, distributors, and artists, among other publishing industry businesses and professionals. He focuses on the negotiation and drafting of publishing, licensing and distribution agreements and copyright counseling. In the last two years Jonathan has completed over 400 successful contract negotiations on behalf of clients, including works by numerous bestselling and award-winning high profile authors.

Jonathan regularly delivers lectures and speaks on panels regarding publishing agreements at conferences across the country. He serves as the content acquisition and legal advisor for Speakaboos, a start-up children's digital publisher. Jonathan is also Executive Director of Subsidiary Rights for Folio Literary Management.

Jonathan received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and his law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He is a member of the Authors Guild, the Contracts Committee of the Association of Author Representatives, the Copyright Society, and the New York State Bar Association.
