Michele Woods is the Associate Register for Policy and International Affairs of the U.S. Copyright Office. As Associate Register, Ms. Woods assists the Register of Copyrights in advising the U.S. Congress and executive branch agencies on domestic and international matters of copyright law and policy. She and her staff represent the Copyright Office in U.S government delegations to international organizations including the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and in meetings and negotiations with foreign governments. Prior to joining the Copyright Office as Senior Counsel in March 2009, Ms. Woods was in private practice in Washington, D.C., most recently as Counsel in the Intellectual Property and Technology group at Arnold & Porter LLP. Ms. Woods focused on copyright law and litigated before numerous United States federal courts, the Copyright Office, the Copyright Royalty Board, the former Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panels and Copyright Royalty Tribunal, and various international organizations including the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva. Ms. Woods received her J.D. and LL.M (International and Comparative Law) degrees from the Duke University School of Law.
